Türkiye is the world's leading apricot producer. There are many apricot cultivars in Turkey, and some new cultivars have started to be grown. Apricots are exported both fresh and dried. The oldest variety for export use is Trintina. Main features: Low sugar level, stable and large size, long shelf life. It grows in most regions of Mersin; yellow to orange. Another important variety is Alyanak apricot. This variety is very attractive, the fruits for table use are larger, sweeter, longer shelf life than Trintina. Şekerpare is sweet and medium hard. The fruits have a pronounced red color. It grows in Malatya's Iğdır district. It can be used both fresh and dried.
